1. J’ai longtemps erré sans guide,
Altéré de vrai bonheur.
Mais, hélas! Mon cœur avide
Ne trouvait que la douleur.
Où sera la main puissante
Qui pourra, par son effort,
M’arrêter sur cette pente
Où déjà je vois la mort?
2. Un Sauveur, Jésus Lui-même,
Eut pitié de mon effroi;
Il me dit: "Pécheur, Je t'aime,
J’ai versé Mon sang pour toi."
Ô Jésus! Ta main puissante
M’a sauvé de mon tombeau,
Et Tu combles mon attente
Par le don d’un cœur nouveau.
3. J’ai saisi cette assurance,
Ce pardon qu’Il m’apportait.
J’ai livré sans résistance
Tout mon cœur: Il le voulait.
Dans mon cœur impur, infirme,
Je reçus le Saint-Esprit,
Et ce sceau divin m’affirme
Que je suis à Jésus-Christ.
4. Maintenant, de joie en joie,
Mon Sauveur me fait marcher,
Car la paix que Christ m’envoie,
Nul ne peut me l’arracher.
À ce Jésus qui me donne
Et Sa paix et Son amour,
À Jésus je m’abandonne
Désormais et sans retour.

1. For so long I’ve wandered away,
Longing after true happiness,
But my empty heart everyday
Could find nothing, but sadness.
Where is the strong and mighty hand,
That by his power and his strength,
Can rescue me and make me stand
Firm and far away from death?
2. Jesus the only Redeemer,
Took pity on my misery,
And He said: "I love you, sinner,
I have died to set you free".
O Jesus, Your mighty power
Saved me and I’ll never depart
From You Lord. You’re my strong tower,
In You I have a new heart.
3. I have seized this great assurance,
This forgiveness the Lord gave me.
I've surrendered with happiness
All my heart: He wanted it.
In my heart impure and hopeless,
I received the Holy Spirit,
And this divine seal testifies
That I am with Jesus Christ.
4. Now from joy to joy, Christ leads me,
And protects me day by day;
And the peace my Saviour gives me,
No one can take it away.
To Jesus Christ my Provider,
Who gives me His peace and His love,
All to Jesus I surrender
Both now and forevermore.
